It was such an honor to design “I Will Never Let Anyone Define My Journey,” a mural project created by members of The B.R.O. Experience Foundation in conjunction with Brooklyn Org for a day of volunteering and service events across the borough (April 25, 2026). Artists of all ages brought their talents together to paint a garden-ful of flowers that decorated the hair of 3 generations in a young man’s journey through time. Watching the confidence of new painters grow throughout the event, hearing painters problem-solve in harmony, and experiencing the joy of working towards a common goal alongside such a thriving community inspired memories I will carry throughout my life. I am so grateful to @gpitkoff for connecting me with Barry, Jack, and the many other wonderful volunteers and staff at B.R.O., and to have had the opportunity to create work for an organization with such an incredible purpose: fostering confidence and resilience in young men of color through wellness of body, mind and spirit to create positive change. @thebroexperiencefoundation offers so many wonderful events, if you know someone who might benefit from this vibrant foundation, be sure to connect with them or direct others towards their abundant and wide ranging programming!
